The ORCA Orthopedic Surgeon team is built of a diverse group of individuals with different backgrounds working cohesively to fulfill your orthopedic needs. Our office staff leads active lifestyles and includes competitive athletes such as runners and endurance bikers. Their families ski, snowboard, bike, and play baseball and soccer. They understand how important it is for our patients to return to their own favorite activities. That’s why our Orthopedic Surgeons put our patients first.
Dr. Vermillion is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and has completed fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Surgery/Foot and Ankle Surgery. He also has a strong background in Sports Medicine and this interest has led him to become an experienced cartilage restoration surgeon.
Dr. Vermillion served in the military for over 21 years after graduating from West Point. Prior to going to medical school he served as an infantryman and was selected to be on the United States Modern Pentathlon Team. He was an elite athlete and runner for many years. He knows what it is like to have injuries and always seeks to get patients back to their highest functional level possible.

Benjamin Kennah is a certified physician assistant with a diverse background caring for patients. He leads an active lifestyle and is passionate about communicating with patients about the treatment and recovery process. Benjamin is the newest addition to the ORCA team, and we are happy to have him aboard!

Sabra is ORCAs Clinical Manager and Medical Assistant she has been with Dr. Vermillion since ORCA opened 8 years ago. She is also a certified Health Coach and loves to inspire people to improve their lives with nutrition and movement.
Her favorite part of working at ORCA is communicating with patients and working with them and Doctor Vermillion to make them better. The most rewarding part of this job for her is to see patients recover from their injuries and return to the activities that they love.
Sabra has lived in Alaska for 18years. She loves the outdoors, hiking and competing in triathlons and fun runs. She is lives here with her wonderful husband and two children.
Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, and Surgical Coordinator
Amber moved to Alaska from California in 1992 as a child with her Mother who had fallen in love with the state and its beauty. She loves seeing all that Alaska has to offer by traveling, hiking, and fishing.
Amber joined ORCA in 2013 as the Surgical Coordinator. She has worked in the medical field since 2001. Her experience includes pain management, primary care, urgent care and sleep technologies. She also worked as an instructor at Alaska Career College teaching medical assisting for over 4 years.
Working in Orthopedics is the highlight of her career. It is her passion to be a part of changing people’s lives for the better. Amber’s favorite moments at ORCA are when she hears heartfelt gratitude from her patients saying that she helped to improve their quality of life.
